\u201cBeauty and the Beast\u201d will feature Disney\u2019s first ever \u201cexclusively gay moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the director of the live action film, Bill Condon, the movie will feature Disney\u2019s first openly gay character.<\/p>\n
Gaston\u2019s sidekick, LeFou who is played by Josh Gad will have a small subplot in the movie that relates to his sexuality.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston,\u201d Condon said in an interview with Attitude magazine. \u201cHe\u2019s confused about what he wants. It\u2019s somebody who\u2019s just realizing that he has these feelings. And Josh makes something really subtle and delicious out of it. And that\u2019s what has its payoff at the end, which I don\u2019t want to give away. But it is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gad tweeted that he was \u201cbeyond proud\u201d to play this role for \u201cBeauty and the Beast.\u201d<\/p>\n
Attitudes Editor-in-Chief, Matt Cain, called this a \u201cwatershed moment for Disney.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gaston, who is portrayed by Luke Evans, is known as the villain of the Disney story who hopes to win Belle for himself.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeauty and the Beast\u201d has been one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. Emma Watson is portraying Belle while Dan Stevens will be the Beast.<\/p>\n
Watson has spoken about her character and feminism in an interview with Vanity Fair.<\/p>\n
Belle is \u201cabsolutely a Disney princess, but she\u2019s not a passive character\u2014she\u2019s in charge of her own destiny,\u201d Watson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeauty and the Beast\u201d will release in theaters this Friday, March 17.<\/p>\n
