Davenport said that before he became interested in photography, he wanted to be a pilot. He flew his first plane before he could even drive a car.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve actually taken two flying lessons,\u201d Davenport said. \u201cI flew an airplane when I was 14 and landed it four times in my first lesson.\u201d His interest in flying led him to search for images of space.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wanted to take photos like that,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, one day I just asked my dad \u2018hey, can I use your camera?\u2019 He was like \u2018sure.\u2019 So, I just picked it up and started taking photos.\u201d<\/p>\n
Davenport says he enjoys photography because it involves sharing moments with other people. He points out the interesting conversations you can have with people on the streets.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was one homeless person I was talking to, and they wanted me to take their picture,\u201d he says. \u201cI just think they didn\u2019t want to be forgotten. That was just the kind of look they had on their face in the photo.\u201d<\/p>\n
Davenport also likes that there is accuracy and truth within a photograph.![\"\"](\"http:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Feature2.jpg\")
<\/p>\n
\u201c[With] drawing, you can create without being there, but with photography you can actually go there and experience it,\u201d he said. \u201cIf I want to take a picture of the desert, I can go to the desert. I\u2019ll know what the sand feels like. I\u2019ll know what the air smells like.\u201d<\/p>\n
This is what draws Davenport to landscapes and people, which he says are his favorite subjects. He describes people as simply being \u201cone of the most interesting things in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Guadalupe Aviles, a Visual Communications major and Davenport\u2019s girlfriend, said she likes how Davenport can capture a person in a good moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe would ask me to stay still and in the next five seconds he takes a photo and shows me something beautiful and different [about] me,\u201d Aviles says.<\/p>\n
Davenport says he also likes landscape photography because of the slow, self-paced aspect.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like landscapes because it\u2019s tedious,\u201d Davenport said. \u201cYou\u2019re just out there with a camera taking photos when you want, how you want. I like waiting outside because I like seeing the environment change.\u201d<\/p>\n
Aviles said she feels Davenport is \u201cexpressing the way he sees the world\u201d through his photography.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s amazing how he finds beauty in things I never thought there was.\u201d she said. \u201cIt keeps you wondering \u2018is there more beauty than just this.\u201d<\/p>\n
Joel Borgemenke, Davenport\u2019s friend, says, \u201cAdham is expressing his creativity, and his art inspires me to think more freely [about] the world around me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI get a sense of imagination melded together with reality [when I see his photos],\u201d Borgemenke added.<\/p>\n
Davenport calls himself a hybrid photographer because he shoots with both digital and film.<\/p>\n
\u201c[With film,] I love the mechanics of it,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s like driving a vintage car. Yeah, the 2016 whatever is going to be better than my 1960 Mustang, but the Mustang just feels so nice to drive.\u201d<\/p>\n
He says he likes digital photography for more technical reasons.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like getting those sharp, crisp photos or taking photos in dark rooms with just natural light,\u201d he said.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cI get immediate results.\u201d<\/p>\n Davenport says he would like to continue working with landscapes and people, but he also wants to explore documentary and war photography, as well as working on movie sets.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to see every bit of the human condition there is,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s the truth. It\u2019s not a rendition. It shows you exactly what it is. It\u2019s like \u2018this is what humans are.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Davenport said he\u2019s interested in set photography because he would get to work with people and travel. \u201cOnce again, it\u2019s the experience,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you\u2019re a set photographer, and the movie is going to be shot in [another country,] you get to go there. It adds a bit of adventure.\u201d<\/p>\n Davenport feels it\u2019s important to take photos of things that interest you and people you love.<\/p>\n Aviles says that shows in Davenport\u2019s work, as well.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you noticed the people he takes photos of you would be able to tell who he cares about and how much.
