Sinclair has built a new partnership with the University of Dayton for students. Students will now be able to take courses designed for two years at Sinclair and two years at the University of Dayton.<\/span><\/p>\n

This program, according to Julia Thompson, the Associate Director at the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University of Dayton, gives a student more opportunities than the Ohio Transfer Program offers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis program goes above and beyond the traditional transfer program, in that students are members of the UD community while taking classes at Sinclair. Like the Ohio Transfer Program, courses have been approved that are guaranteed to transfer to UD, but it is the opportunity to have the benefits of a UD student and to lock in tuition at the current rate that really makes this program unique,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the financial benefits are more scholarship opportunities as well. Students can get textbook scholarships for up to five full-time semesters and they can qualify for a summer or Fall study abroad scholarship of $3,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students will also be eligible to receive up to $15,000 in scholarships for their junior and senior years at UD.<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants in this new program can not only lock-in tuition and receive scholarships, but they can also be a part of the University of Dayton campus. Students in the UD Sinclair Academy will receive a UD student ID and will get academic advisors at the campus to help keep them on track.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cStudents who participate in the Academy will be welcomed into the UD community and have access to many benefits on campus, such as clubs and activities, peer mentoring and use of the RecPlex,\u201d Thompson said.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Thompson, they hope that the UD and Sinclair Academy will help students ease into their transition in Junior year. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cStudents will have had the opportunity to build relationships with UD faculty, staff and students while they were at Sinclair and already be engaged in our campus community,\u201d she said.\"UD-SCC<\/span><\/p>\n

The new Academy was started in hopes of helping local students who want to graduate from UD but start at Sinclair get a clear pathway to their goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cUD and Sinclair both have a strong commitment to our local community and this partnership really is a testament to this. We want students to have a strong academic experience right here in Dayton and the Academy will open doors to students who may not have considered UD,\u201d Thompson said.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Academy is currently limited to 22 majors that have been approved as pathways. They include business degrees, teacher education, mathematics, engineering, engineering technology and sociology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students who are interested in attending the program must complete an online application, they must have a commitment to a UD pathway program major and students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at Sinclair.<\/span><\/p>\n

High school students who may like to join the program must meet the University of Dayton\u2019s undergraduate admissions requirements some of which include the student\u2019s grade pattern and their ACT or SAT scores.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Thompson, the University of Dayton and Sinclair are excited to see this partnership give students the access they need and the funding they need that will help them as members of the Dayton community.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe UD Sinclair Academy provides our local students an opportunity to attend two strong institutions and ultimately receive a degree from the University of Dayton. This partnership will provide students with support, resources and an experience that will help them to be successful students and members of the Dayton community,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Janeil Bernheisel, Manager of Curriculum at Sinclair College on the UD Sinclair Partnership, said that the Academy is a great way to keep Dayton students in Dayton.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSince 90 percent of Sinclair students stay in the Dayton region when they complete their education, this is an excellent way to enrich our talent and keep it local,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thompson would like to add that it is not too late to register for the Fall 2016 if any students are interested in that program. All they would need to do is contact her for more information.<\/span><\/p>\n

The UD Sinclair Academy was introduced on September 23 at a press conference held at Sinclair.<\/span><\/p>\n
