Sinclair Theatre is proud to present a monstrously magical season. All performances will take place in Sinclair\u2019s Blair Hall Theatre located in Building 2. This season will feature shows like \u201cDracula\u201d, \u201cA Charlie Brown Christmas\u201d, \u201cA Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream\u201d, \u201cA Song for Coretta\u201d, \u201cThe Toxic Avenger\u201d and \u201cMoving Spirits.\u201d<\/p>\n
The most anticipated show this season is \u201cDracula.\u201d It will feature some special effects that have never been seen before here at Blair Hall.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe moved Dracula closer to Halloween for a reason and I can\u2019t let you know what it is now but we\u2019re doing something totally new and exciting for the show,\u201d Patti Celek, Theatre Marketing Specialist said.<\/p>\n
Celek shares some exciting things to look forward too for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n
All shows this season are different genres and they all feature or focus on different things. Each show also attracts different audiences so Celek adds that it\u2019s hard to predict which one will be the favorite.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause every show is different genres there\u2019s a different type of excitement each time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Celek mentions that each show will have two ASL interpreted shows but Charlie Brown will be unique because it features shadow interpreting.<\/p>\n
\u201cInstead of them doing the signing off to the side like you would normally see, they are actually right on stage with the characters,\u201d Celek said.<\/p>\n
Besides the shadow interpreting, Charlie Brown also features an awesome, but secret, special effect during the performance. No spoilers!<\/p>\n
\u201cA Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream\u201d is an adaptation that Nelson Sheeley, who is a faculty member here at Sinclair, is writing and directing. The show will combine music, dance and Shakespeare.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a unique take on A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream,\u201d Celek adds.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Toxic Avenger\u201d is a show that is predicted to be fun, according to Celek.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just so out there and if you have listened to some of the music you know it\u2019s hilarious.\u201d She also adds that this show, and \u2018Dracula,\u2019 is suggested for mature audiences only,\u201d Celek said.<\/p>\n
The Theatre Department is working hard to provide fun entertainment for everyone. This upcoming season is very different and features a lot of new and exciting special effects amongst other things. That also includes days like Throwback Thursday where you get a discounted price because the prices of the tickets are like they were a couple of years ago.<\/p>\n
Wicked Wednesday is also something new that the theatre department is doing that provides a night performance on Wednesday\u2019s at 7. More information on Wicked Wednesday will be available on Facebook so make sure you like the Theatre Department\u2019s page.<\/p>\n
Celek would also like to invite everyone to come to the theatre\u2019s open house during Welcome Week from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on August 24.<\/p>\n
Information will be available during Welcome Week. Tickets are available online and at the box office an hour before each show.<\/p>\n
