So I am a 25-year-old student at Sinclair, and I feel like I have been here\u00a0forever. I\u2019m getting a degree in Liberal Arts, but I\u2019m getting very discouraged\u00a0because most of my friends are college graduates with a Bachelor\u2019s degree, whilst\u00a0Im still at Sinclair trying to earn my associate\u2019s degree.\u00a0I know the time will eventually pass, but I am just worried I wont make it to\u00a0graduation because I cant get over the fact about how long it\u2019s taking me to\u00a0graduate. I work part-time, while going to school so I know that\u2019s why its taking me\u00a0a long time, but I am just questioning if I should just quit and maybe go back when I\u00a0have motivation and drive to finish it. I figured I could at least start working full time\u00a0and make more money. What do you think?<\/p>\n

Dear Tired of school,<\/p>\n

You are not alone. I know I struggle with the same worries, and I know many\u00a0other people who do as well. I understand how hard it is to want to graduate and\u00a0just get on with your life, but the time spent here is well worth it. It\u2019s easy to start\u00a0comparing yourself to others, especially friends, and see them have a four-year\u00a0degree, and working on finding a steady career, but just remember your priorities\u00a0are different.<\/p>\n

The exciting part about a community college is that it gives you an\u00a0opportunity to still get an education, as well as work and meet a wide variety of\u00a0people. Most people here are balancing work, school and social life, which is\u00a0something that should be learned in life anyways.\u00a0People get caught up in the final destination that they forget about the\u00a0journey. It\u2019s about the process that gets you the ending\u2014so it\u2019s going to be hard\u00a0work, but it\u2019s worth it. In my personal opinion, I think you should keep going and\u00a0finish. It\u2019s going to be hard to get back in the groove of things if you quit. On the\u00a0other hand, if you feel like you\u2019d have more motivation if you took a break then that\u00a0might benefit you too.<\/p>\n

My grandpa gave me the advice to think about how far I have come, rather\u00a0than how far I have to go, and I must say it really helps. Obviously keep your goals\u00a0and ending in your sight, but don\u2019t dread on the process or compare yourself to\u00a0others.<\/p>\n
