Wondering where to go for the holidays as the semester comes to a close? Interested in getting a break from the stress of exams while not going far away from your hometown? This is the perfect place for you!

This holiday season is approaching, and what better way to relax from this semester than going to local holidays festivities? This month, the city of Dayton and neighboring areas are having holiday events to celebrate this special time of year. Events including ice skating, live theatre for the family, and much more!

Ready to dive into these jolly events happening this month? Let’s begin.

One fun winter activity is ice skating. The Five Rivers Metroparks system offers a delightful treat to make the holidays less stressful and more exhilarating… outdoor ice skating at the RiverScape park.

The Riverscape Ice Rink is $7 for all ages and is open daily to the public. The rink has plenty of activities for everyone, including beginners’ lessons, open skating, broomball and curling as well as hot chocolate and concerts.

It’s located at 237 E. Monument Ave., Dayton, OH 45402. For more information call 937-278-2607 or go online at www. metroparks.org.
In addition, the Beavercreek area offers another event to help the holiday spirit kick in, involving galloping around the Green Center Square: carriage rides!

Carriage rides are available at the Greene to show the scenery and view of the Greene in all its holiday decorations. Rides have already started this month and will continue during every Saturday in December until the 22nd.

Carriage rides are $10 per person and $15 per couple. In comparison, children 15 and younger are free with a paying adult. This is located at 4452 Buckeye Ln. in Beavercreek, OH 45440. Carriage rides occur in the Town Square on Glengarry Dr. To get in contact call 937-490-4990.

Moreover, are you interested in experiencing a winter whimsical fantasy land? If yes, we have the best place to be! Woodland Lights in Montgomery County, OH offers a half mile walk towards your Christmas fantasy full of lights and displays.

The Woodland Lights have already opened this month but the festivities aren’t over yet! The display of lights lasts until Dec. 2, and are open nightly until Dec. 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 and children two and younger are free. Tickets are available at www.woodlandlights.org and 937-433-0152.

For the adults, the Yellow Cab is offering an ugly Christmas sweater party to all those legally able to drink this holiday season. The Yellow Cab is presenting “The Twelve Taps of Christmas,” that includes 12 different taps of beer only available seasonally.

Some taps include brews from the Yellow Springs Brewery, Toxic Brew Company and Star City Brewing Company. This event takes place Dec. 19 from 5:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. at 700 E. Fourth St., Dayton. You can get in contact with them through Facebook and at 937-424-3870.

The Dayton area and its neighboring communities have a multitude of events coming up for this holiday season. The whole family can enjoy holiday festivities this Christmas season.
