WWE was live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for SmackDown Live. After an eventful week in Brooklyn, SmackDown looks to kick off the “New” era with the new Tag Team Champions the New Day. Also, Carmella gets her rematch at Charlotte for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Plus, the Samoa Joe and AJ Styles feud is boiling, how will the WWE Champion respond knowing Joe is always lurking towards his next attack?
SmackDown kicks off with the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions the New Day. After reclaiming the tag team championships last week becoming a now 5-time tag team champions, they come out to celebrate. Before the celebration begins, outcomes King Booker (Booker T). The New Day bow before King Booker. King Booker grants and welcomes The New Day into the 5 time champions club. After the welcoming, Booker and The New Day all do Spinaroonies in celebration.
The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) v. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson v. The Colons (Primo & Epico)
Reported by multiple sources, Eric Rowan has sustained an injury and will be out of action for some time. This means The New Day needs a new #1 contender for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. That is why over the next few weeks, there will be triple threat tag team matches where the winners will go on to face each other and the winner of that match faces the New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
In a really interesting tag team match, The Bar was able to capitalize on a mistake and get the tag and pick up the victory. The Bar is one step close to facing The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
After the match, General Manager Paige announces that the second match in this series will be The Usos versus Sanity versus Rusev Day. The winner will face The Bar for the #1 contendership.
Jeff Hardy Challenges Randy Orton
After beating each other and destroying each other, Jeff Hardy seeks to end it once and for all. Jeff Hardy challenges Randy Orton to a match, a match inside Hell in a Cell. Randy Orton does not answer. All he does is drop his mic. The match seems set, Hardy versus Orton at Hell in a Cell inside Satan’s structure. This match could tear the house down.
Naomi v. Billie Kay
In a really quick match, Billie Kay was able to use Peyton Royce to distract Naomi for the roll-up win. If blinked, you missed the match.
Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan Talk About their Upcoming Match at Hell in a Cell
Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan come down to the ring to talk about their match against The Miz and Maryse at Hell in a Cell. They state that they will punch Maryse and The Miz in the face and wipe them away from their lives once and for all.
The outcomes Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelena Vega. Zelina opens the challenge to Daniel Bryan to take on her client Andrade. General Manager Paige makes it official.

This first time ever matchup between the two did not disappoint. These two laid it all on the line in this highly contested match. However, The Miz made his way to ringside to distract Daniel. Then, Maryse did the same attacking Brie from behind. The Miz would then attack Daniel. With Andrade and Zelina, The Miz and Maryse lay out Daniel and Brie and seal it with a kiss. I was a huge fan of this feud. Until, the addition of the wives. I am not a fan of adding wives to try to add the heat.
AJ Styles Questions Samoa Joe’s Manhood
WWE Champion AJ Styles is tired of the petty mind games. He is tired of Samoa Joe bringing his family into this. He believes that Joe is not man enough to take the WWE Championship away from him. He demands that Joe come out and face him man to man.
However, Joe is back in the parking area. Where he dials up AJ’s wife Wendy. He promises to make a visit next week. AJ storms to the back on the hunt of Samoa Joe.
SmackDown Women’s Championship: Charlotte v. Carmella
In the main event, Carmella seeks to try to regain back the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Carmella and Charlotte gave it all on the line for the biggest prize in the SmackDown Women’s division. Charlotte was able to capitalize off a Carmella mistake and hit Natural Selection followed by the Figure 8 for the win. Charlotte is still SmackDown Women’s Champion.
However, there is no time to celebrate as Becky Lynch attacked Charlotte from behind. She tells Charlotte that come Hell or high water, she is taking back her championship at Hell in a Cell.
Conclusion
Yet another good episode of SmackDown. The rivalries heading towards Hell in a Cell continue to heat up. Hell in a Cell has the potential to duplicate if not be better than SummerSlam. This continues to draw interest.
