Sinclair will observe #GivingTuesday this November with a month long campaign to fund the Class Gift Scholarship. The global hashtag holiday meant to promote philanthropy gives premise to Sinclair’s effort to build and grow the “by students, for students” scholarship.

#GivingTuesday began in 2012 as a generous answer to the gluttonous shopping holidays Black Friday and Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday lands on November 28, the Tuesday immediately after Thanksgiving and the popular shopping days.

The Class Gift Scholarship is a popular scholarship program at many American colleges and universities, meant for outgoing Seniors to give thanks by supporting future students. The scholarship is available to students who are in their final two terms of their degree program.

The #GivingTuesday campaign kicks off on November 1 and ends on Tuesday, November 28. Students are encouraged to give to others during November, and to post #Unselfies to social media to promote the charitable campaign. Sinclair will have #GivingTuesday activities throughout the month.

Sinclair joined the global #GivingTuesday movement last year. Promotion of #GivingTuesday and the Class Gift Scholarship goes both ways as both seek awareness from students and consumers alike. The #GivingTuesday campaign has 60,000 followers on Twitter.

The Sinclair Foundation is looking for volunteers to lead and organize the various activities throughout the month. They will also serve as ambassadors and promote the campaign on social media.

Those interested can contact them at Building 12, Room 12201.

#GivingTuesday encourages people to help others by donating goods, time, or abilities.
