Reporters

Reporters normally write one story per issue. Reporters need to have a basic knowledge of journalism. Articles must be submitted by deadline while being accurate.

Requirements:

  • Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Journalism, Communication and English majors preferred
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Preferred writers who have taken JOU 2101

Graphic Designers

Designers should have a basic understanding of newspaper layout and page design. Designers should have some experience using Adobe Creative Suite — Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

Requirements:

  • Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Visual Communications majors preferred
  • Available to work 6-10 hours a week; must be available Thursday or Friday each week

Photographers

Photographers need to have an ability to work under stress and adhere to deadlines. Photographers should also ensure accuracy and factual representation in their images.

Requirements:

  • Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Photography experience and/or knowledge of camera basics is preferred

Videographers

Videographers need to have an ability to work under stress and adhere to deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Video and/or audio equipment experience is preferred

Multimedia Specialist

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and understands the workings of various multimedia outlets, such as audio, video, and photography.

Requirements:

  • Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Must have understanding of audio and video equipment, photography equipment
  • Must be able to produce a weekly video for the Clarion broadcast
  • Available to work 6-10 hours each week

Web Technician

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, well-organized, dependable, and has excellent computer/website skills.

Requirements:

  • Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Must be able to maintain the Clarion website each week — posting new content when print editions are released
  • Having some understanding of website development and maintenance is preferred
  • Available to work 5-6 hours each week

Advertising Representative

Advertising representatives are responsible for selling ads for the print edition and online site. Advertising representatives maintain advertisers accounts and invoices.

Requirements:

  • Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Must provide list of ads to creative department by deadline
  • Business majors preferred
  • Available to work 6-10 hours each week

Marketing Representative

Marketing representatives work to make the public aware of the Clarion’s existence. They are essentially our promoters.

Requirements:

  • Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Business majors preferred
  • Available to work 3-6 hours each week

Distribution Coordinator

The distribution coordinator distributes the Clarion every week and maintains the newspaper racks throughout the week.

Requirements:

  • Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Must be available on Monday and Wednesday afternoons
  • Must be able lift at least 20 pounds and walk or stand for 30 minutes or more
  • Available to work 4-6 hours a week
