Spring is making an appearance with finals just around the corner and Student and Community Engagement would like you to join them for a day of fun.

“Spring Fling is about fun, food and finals. That’s the theme and it’s really just to celebrate the end of the year and to prepare for that finals week. There are activities that are to promote academic resources on campus, there are activities for fun, there are events for career communities and there are also community resource tables,” said Kates Brommeland, Coordinator of Student and Community Engagement.

According to Brommeland, Spring Fling is also meant to connect students to Sinclair and to the community while also preparing them for finals.

“We’re really trying to take that holistic approach to make sure that students have what they need for finals, have what they need for the summer and are connected continuously to campus. Including having our student club and organization out there promoting what they are planning to do over the summer and in the fall,” she said.

Brommeland said that Spring Fling also gives students the opportunity to connect with people that will help them in their academic area and it will introduce them to different Sinclair departments.

“I think it’s a great way to connect with people that maybe you haven’t connected with. Or to be introduced to something new. We have tutorial services here and they will help with that academic piece, we have counseling services, we have student support services, you can register for Summer and Fall at this event, you can can talk to an academic advisor at this event. So, it’s a really good way to get introduced to those campus departments,” Brommeland said.

The event will also have several people from outside in the community who can introduce students to their services and attendees will be able to see what else is available in Dayton.

“It’s also a good way to see what else is in the community. So, public health is going be here, RTA is going to be here, Link Dayton Bike Share are going to be here so that you can get introduced to what services and support are going to be in the community as well. There’s just a lot of different things where you can get connected,” she said.

Spring Fling will also have some fun events such as puppies, Wii and a prize cube where students can collect tickets and win prizes. The career communities will be at the event and they will have knocker ball.

The Clarion will be at the event as well and will be having prizes and games.

Brommeland asks all students to come and join them for a day of fun. Spring Fling will take place outside of Building 8 where the gymnasium is. If there is rain, it will be held in the Basement of Building 8. The event is on April 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
