Harvest Fest at Sinclair is the perfect opportunity to relax and meet other students while celebrating the midpoint of the fall semester.

Kates Brommeland, the Coordinator of Student Engagement at Sinclair, is very excited about the event.

“We really want our students to come out and join us for the event, it’s a perfect way for them to connect with their fellow classmates,” Brommeland said.

The event is open to all students, staff and faculty, and there will be a wide variety of activities to partake in.

According to Brommeland, the event is a great way to see what campus life is like while connecting with other students.

“Students can share their experience and it creates this community and I think community is so important,” she said.

According to Brommeland, it’s important for students to connect with each other because they may be working with each other somewhere down the line, so it’s important to establish a community while in college.

There will be supersized versions of Connect 4, Jenga and Checkers available, as well as many rounds of harvest trivia from around the world.

Harvest trivia is, according to Brommeland, a good way to look at harvests from around the world and see how they are celebrated.

Also, the Clarion is hosting a costume contest. All you have to do is get your picture taken in costume at the Clarion photo booth, and you’ll be entered to win a prize.

There will be plenty of snacks and refreshments provided, as well as music playing and TV to watch on the big screens.

According to Brommeland, Harvest Fest is a way for students to relax a little bit and celebrate the fact that they are now halfway through the semester.

“Just coming and having fun and just taking a break,” she said.

Another goal of the event is to show what Building 8 can offer Sinclair students.

“A lot of students don’t really know about our building, they aren’t aware of the great services and programs the Student and Community Engagement office provides,” Brommeland said.

Building 8 houses the gymnasium, pool and athletic facilities.

The basement floor contains meeting places for student clubs and organizations, a game room and different departments that offer help on career building skills. It is where employers go to find Sinclair students or alumni to work for them.

Harvest Fest takes place on Tuesday, October 25, from 11a.m. to 1p.m. in the basement floor of Building 8.
