The Sinclair Community College baseball team has begun practicing, and coach Steve Dintaman started things off with a question. “I told the guys, we have 31 days of practice before the season begins,” Dintaman said. “I asked them, what do we need to work on? They came up with a long list.” Some of the things on the list, like “putting gloves together” or “practice fourth inning” would only make sense to those on the team. As you walk the streets of India, you become a part of a carnival blur of coughing buses, dirty rickshaws, mopeds, bicycles, and a myriad of cars and makeshift taxis all going their absolute maximum speed in every different direction. Across the river, set away from the many classrooms that Sinclair Community College uses, is Building 20, also known as the John E. Moore, Sr. Technology Center. A place that is a mystery for some students and that many will never visit. A showcase of luxury cars and an old-fashioned fire truck greet anyone who walks into the doors. The building’s views consist of a mix of the Miami River, the highway and old factory buildings. The first floor is dedicated to the automotive and fire science classrooms. “The... [Read more...]

January 31, 2011 by Georgia Howard · Leave a Comment
The Ohio Board of Nursing made the decision to put Sinclair Community College’s Nursing program on an 18 month provisional approval following a site visit last September where they found an unlicensed instructor and record keeping problems, according to Madeline Iseli, chief of staff. The decision will not affect the ability of any students or graduates of the college to sit for the certification exam, Iseli said. “The program is still approved and working under the compliance of the board of...
