The Sinclair Community College baseball team is one win away from its second consecutive OCCAC Championship after defeating Owens Community College 11-6 on Friday, April 30. The Tartan Pride scored the game’s first seven runs on just one hit, a 2-run homer by outfielder Zach Stewart. But Owens fought back, hitting two home runs of their own in the fifth, cutting the lead to 7-6, chasing starting pitcher Zach Botjer from the game. Diversity rally calls for equal gay rights

A rainbow of balloons on a platform stage dominated the courtyard in front of Building 7.  The BriTe SiGnaL Alliance, a student club at Sinclair Community College, hosted their first annual diversity rally on April 29.  Gay, lesbian, bisexual, straight and transgender people from the school and beyond gathered for four hours to promote equality for all. Interim senior VP selected

Sinclair Community College announced its interim senior vice president position has been filled within the college on Thursday, April 29. Effective May 1, Senior Director of School Linkages Michael Carter will step into the senior VP role, according to a press release from Sinclair. Indoor Spring Fling brings Oscars to Sinclair

Spring Fling is taking Sinclair Community College to the Hollywood Oscars on May 12.  This year, though, the event is staying in Building 8, according to Student Leadership Advisor Karen Williams. “Normally we have it outside, but this year we planned on having it on the inside because we were unsure how the weather was going to be,” Williams said.  “We didn’t want to make any last minute changes.” Games, student club videos and a fashion show will be featured during the event.  Oscar-themed... [Read more...]

Teaching technology on yesterday’s terms

Whoever chose the book for my XHTML/Javascript class (CIS 137) must not understand the concept of changing technology.  How else would you explain using a 2003 technology book in 2010?  Now, the tags, attributes and elements in the old book work just fine with my 2010 browser.  That’s not the issue.  The issue is how the book teaches me to use the technology.
