NBA Blog: Lost interest

February 17, 2010 by Samuel Huist · Leave a Comment

When I got an editors job at the Clarion this year, I begged anybody who would listen for a blog. I told them I wanted to write about the NBA because it was my favorite sport and after a month, I was granted my request. My NBA blog started out strong. I made predictions, recapped opening night and shared some of my not-so-agreeable thoughts on the sport. But for some reason I lost interest in the NBA this season. Last year I watched a minimum of two games per week, but this year I went two months... [Read more...]

NBA Blog: Three things

December 9, 2009 by Samuel Huist · 1 Comment

I haven’t been able to watch as much NBA as I would have liked to recently because a guy at the restaurant I work at got fired and I picked up a lot of his hours, but I did want to briefly touch on last weeks top headlines. Allen Iverson signed with the Philadelphia 76ers After being released by the Memphis Grizzlies last month, Iverson briefly retired before re-signing with his old for a non guaranteed $1.3 million. Two big events happened in the NBA today, Nov. 16.  Stephen Jackson was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats and Allen Iverson’s contract was terminated by the Memphis Grizzlies. Iverson, 34, signed a 1-year contract with the Grizzlies on Sept. 10, but only played in three games and left the team on Nov. 6.  Iverson allegedly left the team because he was unhappy about his role. Specifically he did not like coming off the bench. Out on the west coast, Stephen Jackson finally got the change of scenery... [Read more...]

NBA Blog: A memo to LeBron James

November 13, 2009 by Samuel Huist · Leave a Comment

If LeBron James didn’t want to talk about his pending free agency, he should have signed a contact extension. After months of chitchat about where King James will play next year, LeBron has done something I never expected: he’s gotten tired of talking about himself. “This free agent talk is getting old. It’s getting old and I think I’m going to stop. Tonight will be the last time I answer any more free agent questions until the offseason,” James said on Nov. 9. Hey LeBron!... [Read more...]

Celtics 95 Cavaliers 89 The Cavs got off to a fast start, leading the Celtics by 14 after the first quarter, but it was all Boston after that.
