The Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs dominated the NBA’s Western Conference in the 2000s. The two teams combined for nine conference titles over the last 10 seasons. It’s clear the Spurs are not as strong as in previous years, so the West is open to contenders looking to knock off the defending champion Lakers. Tapping to the rhythm

Since he was 4 years old, Christopher Erk knew he was going to become a dancer. Erk, who teaches Tap Dance I at Sinclair Community College, said once he began tapping, he never wanted to do anything else. “When I was 10, I knew I wanted to (tap dance) professionally,” Erk said. Erk is finishing up his first tap class at Sinclair. Sinclair baseball loses weekend

The Sinclair Tartan Pride baseball team didn’t open its 2010 season in ideal fashion. After traveling to Georgia for two doubleheaders in two days against Young Harris College on Feb. 27 and 28, the Tartan Pride returned home with a 1-3 record. In the opening game, Sinclair fell behind 3-0 after two innings until the Tartan Pride chipped away at the lead. Sinclair tied the game at 3 on a sacrifice fly by Zach Stewart. The flying car may land in Dayton

Home to Orville and Wilbur Wright, Dayton might become the next gateway to a different type of aviation: The flying car. On Feb. 17, the Dayton Daily News and the Dayton Business Journal reported Terrafugia Inc. is showing interest in moving its production to Dayton. The articles said the company is considering a $4.4 million offer to move its business to the Gem City. Student part of Oscar-nominated film

Kate Geiger spent 24 years working at the General Motors plant in Moraine. After the plant shut down on Dec. 23, 2008, Geiger enrolled at Sinclair Community College the following spring. “It’s been the most amazing challenge,” Geiger, 45, said about being a student. In June 2008, Geiger, along with thousands of GM-Moraine employees, were told the plant would be shut down in six months. In the biggest advertising day of the year, businesses shell out huge lumps of cash to showcase their products during the largest television event of the year: the Super Bowl.
