Performing at the renaissance festival is a completely different experience

Samantha Percy remembers attending the renaissance festival as a child and being in awe of Sir Drake, a nobleman.  This year marks the second year she is working with him at the festival. Percy, a Surgical Technology student at Sinclair Community College, plays Smooth Morgan Blair, the town criminal at the Ohio Renaissance Festival.  Last year she played Pepper O’Greenho. “It’s amazing how different it is to be a person who comes and sees everything and a patron,” Percy said.  “It’s... [Read more...]

Business and biology student Jennifer Howard can braid a pattern out of any number of strands.  She is using her talent to braid and sell leather wristbands, chokers, bracelets and belts at the Ohio Renaissance Fair. “It’s my random talent,” she said. Howard learned how to braid when her older sister taught her how to make creative friendship bracelets.   Howard said she forgot how to do certain patterns, but there are other patterns she can braid without looking. “My hands still know... [Read more...]

“RW/RR Challenge: The Ruins” Competition Analysis Part 2

September 29, 2009 by Kamari Stevens · 1 Comment

Yesterday I did a rundown of all the players on the “Champions” squad from “RW/RR Challenge: The Ruins.” Today is the second part featuring the “Challengers” team. “Challengers” •    Adam (RW: Paris): After getting kicked off of “The Duel 2” for fighting, Adam is back. When good trades happen

For example, Babe Ruth—some say the greatest baseball player of all-time—was traded from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees for $100,000. The Los Angeles Dodgers traded Pedro Martinez to the Montreal Expos for Delino DeShields is amusing, as well. Yet, I can’t help but think of one... [Read more...]

Name: Jarrin Forte Age: 19 Major: Sports Management Q: Where did you get your tattoo? A: Indianapolis, Indiana.  I have a buddy that works in a shop there that does all my tattoos. Take a bite out of this Apple

September 28, 2009 by Joseph Stueve · Leave a Comment

One of the most sensitive and fiery discussions among people seems to be a simple question: are you a Mac or PC? We’ve all seen the commercials: Apple promotes its products by pointing out PC flaws and highlighting its own characteristics. PC returns the favor by pitching its low cost and easy accessibility. I like to call myself a Mac daddy. I grew up with a PC and didn’t know any better. I thought viruses were inevitable and consistent pop-ups were included. Once I got my hands on a Mac, I... [Read more...]
